Pet Tattoos, New Overseas Trend?

Dazed Cat Spent 3 Hours Getting Inked

First, it was children getting forced into body art, now it’s pets!  A story out of Moscow tells of a woman who says the reason she got her cat tattooed is because “I wanted something new and different for the times we live in.”  That’s great that SHE wanted “something new and different”, but what about what the cat wants?  Did she ask the cat if he wanted a tattoo?  What if he isn’t a fan of Egyptian images and would’ve preferred something else?  Well, I guess we’ll never know because THE CAT CAN’T TALK.  But the cat can feel, and I really hope that it wasn’t too painful for the little guy.  It wasn’t his choice.  Next time the owner wants “something new and different”, I hope she chooses something for herself and doesn’t use her pet as a trendy accessory.  Disgusting.  Sorry little guy…I wish we could’ve screened your owner for narcissism before she was allowed to buy you.  Read the entire article here

Even Celebrities Have Tattoo Typos

Panettiere Victim of Body Art Blunder

I think that no matter what tattoo you decide to get, you want to be completely confident that it’s the right one for you.  What I mean, is that you should take time to explore designs, think about body placement, and of course….of course….triple check the spelling if you choose a word or phrase.  I would say that this is especially critical if you want words in a language you don’t understand.  At least that’s what I would do.  Well, not everyone is as cautious as me, because I just found an article that says Hayden Panettiere of Heroes fame, is the latest celebrity victim of a misspelled tattoo.  Turns out she chose an Italian phrase that means “to live without regrets”…sounds really nice.  But one of the words is spelled wrong.  Maybe Panettiere did triple check the spelling, and maybe it was the fault of a tired or distracted tattoo artist.  Whatever the reason, this is not the first celebrity body art blunder.  David Beckham’s tattoo “Victoria” was misspelled in Sanskrit and Britney Spears’s Chinese tattoo “Strange” is supposed to say “Mysterious”.  Whoops!  I wonder if these stars have any “regrets” about their ink now.  Check out the entire article here.

Jermaine + Love = Janet Jackson Body Ink

Jermaine Dupri Surprises Janet With Her Face On His Chest

I just found out on Examiner.com that Jermaine Dupri, who has been dating Janet Jackson since 2002, has had a huge tattoo of her face done on his chest.  The image, which some say resembles the Virgin Mary, is speculated to be for Janet’s recent 43rd birthday.  That’s some gift!  Although I’m always skeptical when people get permanent reminders of their partners on their bodies, because tattoos stick around longer than people sometimes, it really is a romantic gesture.  I mean, some say “diamonds are forever” but you can lose a diamond…you’re not going to lose your skin!  While the idea of it is both beautiful and risky, it does indicate the amount of one’s devotion…at least during the time at the tattoo parlour.  So I commend you Jermaine for honouring your woman with body art and paying tribute to her in a way that no Janet Jackson garage band ever could.  I just hope you don’t live to regret it.  Check out the full article here

New Tattoo Barbie Creates Controversy

Barbie dolls were my toy of choice as a kid…yes, I was a girly girl.  Even now I have a hard time resisting the barbie isle on my occasional trip to Toys R Us.  I always love to see how far barbie and her entourage has come since the 80s.  That’s why I was especially interested to learn about the new Totally Stylin Tattoos Barbie.  A barbie that comes with tattoos for her and your kids!  Now, you can just guess that some people won’t be happy about this, right?  Well, Mattel isn’t giving in to those aggravated parents and has said that it will not discontinue the doll because she gives girls a chance to express themselves and be creative.  Fortunately, not all parents are close minded and in fact the body art doll has sold out in some locations.  Geez, I’m wishing I was about 10 years old right now…

Dad Forces Son, 7, To Get Tattoo

Fake Tattoos Should Be The Only Kind For Kids

Now I’ve heard it all!  According to MercuryNews.com, a California man is charged with aggravated mayhem and street terrorism for forcing his 7 year old son to get a tattoo.  And not just any tattoo, but a symbol for a street gang.  Wow.  You see, in California it is illegal for a person under 18 to get inked.  And maybe dad didn’t know the law…poor guy.  That’s probably why he’s pleading not guilty.  And it’s not like dad actually put the body art on the boy himself.  He only held down his 7 year old, while his friend tattooed the dog paw on the boy’s right hip.  The friend, by the way, is not actually a licensed tattoo artist but he does tattoos for the Bulldog street gang.  He’s also pleading not guilty.  Now, I don’t know much about gangs but I figure that they want to recruit people they trust and young people they can manipulate and control.  Well, if that’s the case, your own 7 year old child would be the perfect candidate.  Good thinking dad!  Crazy.  All kidding aside, I hope the judge in this case will give the maximum penalty, life in prison.  Maybe then the poor kid will have a chance, if he’s not too messed up already.  Check out the article here.
